Among those stuffed bears...

The room was stacked full
With plushies and teddies
Googly eyes staring blankly
All to one direction of the door.
As if in anticipation to be loved
Or in hopes for a getaway far.
My eyes scanned those faces
Cuddly and delightful for toddlers
Pinks, blues, hues of rainbow
Soft, furry and comforting to innocence.
Commodities that replace folks
Or at times can provide some recess.
Again and again I swept through them
For something was amiss amongst
This assortment of stuffed animals
Adorning a child's play room.
As if on cue, a pair of eyes, not googly
Stared deep into my soul eerily.
There amidst those wide eyed bears
Bolstered as if on a mantel , was a head
That unblinkingly scowled at my soul
Mocking me to accept the inevitable.
As if breaking off from a solid stupor
I realized! , staring into my own eyes.
