You see me,

bored, unenthusiastic even

when you throw me a banana

I stare, scratching an itch

at times ,it feels ...

As if it's the right thing to do.

I find You,

mildly entertaining...

I must admit!

You have caged me ,

For all to see.

You visit whenever

To please the narcissist.

You mull over my apathy.

As if in empathy,

With fabricated sympathy..

Until you bring out,

the whip!

To keep it simple,

To avoid any complexity.

There was never any question

Or doubt in my mind..

I had resigned..

For a while now.

The freedom to jump

From tree to tree

My tail a hook, a rudder...

Now tucked close by me

Forgotten how it tastes...
