Horse and a Lion

Once upon a time a lion roaming free and proud
Saw a lame horse bound in a stall whinnying
He prowled stealthily close to the horse's muzzle
Almost as if he was planting a gentle kiss on it's poll
When he got close enough he whispered softly
"You are man's slave", and the proud lion roared in laughter.
It broke the horse's spine , not the mockery
not the slavery
The foolish horse had hoped for that tender kiss
Which didn't come , nor will ever and tears flowed
A whip crashed on it's fractured back again and again
Threatening to collapse the enslaved beast into underground.
It's mane yanked, a bit was stuffed into it's mouth...
The lion turned slowly and padded away at large
Into the lush dense jungle prowling yet again
Never knowing or experiencing captivity of the herd
The horse gazed as he raced longingly at the wildcat
It's paw prints blazing a trail behind as he left
With muddled emotions of burn and yearn the horse remained...
