A game of snakes and ladders...

That noon, a hot summer one

When it slithered so close

Or then of the time, I shadowed

It's greeness of a fresh leaf

Heedless and unworldly I had

Taken the venom unquestioning.

Those evenings , star studded

And lulling to my stinging view

Perched atop the last rung gazing up

Or when I clambered on the notches

Of the cold and callous steel

Under my wobbly split ankle.

Once when I seeked an ancient in a

Temple, lucent with dull lamps

And fragrances of camphor and oils,

Haunted by daunting visions day or night

Pursuing the echo of that recurrence

Split tongue hissing premonitions.

Thence the time, facing the demanding walls

Stepping up and down to adorn it's

Vacant plainness with flanders weave

I tumbled into the brokenness with no end to

Skidding right back to where it all started

I stood numb staring at the titanic labrynth.
