The silk scarf

A black silk scarf holds up my hair

As I nestle my head onto the pillow

Inhaling an absence of your scent from the sheets...

I cradle my chin into the palm hoping I feel your touch

Stark reality cascades in a rush , you are not here

You are not making love to me each night...

My groin clenches tight in protest, how do I pacify it without you?

Tears you say are conniving, I can't convince you otherwise

They slide to the cover and soak the cushion.

I caress the bed, persuading it to turn into you

My lashes come to rest on my cheeks as I drift

I'm blind but I see you clear, slaying demons with your bare hands

I stand transfixed, too afraid to lose sight of you

You fade away as the light breaks in

I know I don't remember what had happened...

The black scarf is undone from its silky folds...
